Matcha Whisk

A bamboo whisk, or chasen, is an essential tool for preparing matcha. It helps break up clumps, blend the powder properly into the water, and create a smooth bowl of tea.

The whisk style is often described by the number of tines it has. This is an approximate count, not an exact one. Whisks with more tines generally create more foam, while those with fewer tines produce less. This is a matter of preparation style rather than quality. Some people prefer a more frothy finish, while others prefer very little foam.
